Standardization of Remote Sensing Usage for Forensic Ecotechnique: forest and trees
Introvičová, Sabina ; Čermák, Jan (referee) ; Ulrich, Radomír (referee) ; Alexandr, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis presents the main points of standardization of remote sensing (RS) usage for Forensic Ecotechnique: forest and trees (FEft). Based on the study FEft expertise database, the types of expertise, which remote sensing data have already been used and the types where the use of remote sensing increases the exactness of solutions were analyzed. RS data are essential in a problematic situation when an examined object does not exist or has been changed at the time of the assignment. This situation may be solved by obtaining information about the investigated object via retrospective image data, as described in the model example. There are chosen categories of image data relevant to the needs of experts in this thesis. These categories of RS data and their products are described with an indication of their possible use in the expertise processing, including freely available or paid resources and archives of image data.
Vegetation changes in transition bogs at fishpond epilitorals
Spilka, Josef ; Karlík, Petr (advisor) ; Kindlmann, Pavel (referee)
This study concerns in a three peatland sites: the epilitorals of Pilská reservoir and Hořejší Padrťský fishpond in Příbram region and Kamenný fishpond in Pilsen. These peat-bobg were affected by negative conseqences of human activities. The aim of this study is to find out what kind these changes was and what extent they were. The changes in vegetation were observed from two points of view. The GIS analyses of aerial photographs represent the macroscale view. Repeating of old phytosociological relevées was the microscale view. To understand the cause of vegetation changes, the species-environment analyses were used. Four transects were made for this purpose and a water table level, pH and conductivity were mesured monthly along these transects. One-shot measurements of N and P water concentration and a peat depth were also carried out. Measured data from transects were uses in multivariate vegetation analyses and also in one- way analysis, aimed to an expansion plant species. All three sites of concern came through strong changes in past. In all of them the area of biotops of great conservation importance decreased and some endangered plant species have been lost there. The changes in Pilská reservoir epilitoral were mostly anthropogenic, whereas the mires of Hořejší Padrťský fishpond and Kamenný...
Collectivization of agriculture and its projection to the landscape. Case study of cadastral area Široký Důl
Kocmanová, Pavlína ; Skaloš, Jan (advisor) ; Bartoš, Michael (referee)
Diplomová práce Kolektivizace zemědělství a její promítnutí do krajiny ABSTRACT I searched changes in the cultural landscape structure in the relation with social processes in the time period 1937-2010 in my thesis. The research refers to the second half of 20th century, or more precisely, to the era of collectivization of Czechoslovak agriculture. In consequence of collectivization, the landscape was ecologically devastated and overall the nature of Czech countryside changed. Analysis of the landscape structure has form of case study of cadastral area of Široký Důl. I interpreted landscape changes from historical aerial photos and then analyzed the changes by geographical information systems. The results of those analyses are indicators (landscape metrics), by which I interpreted conditions of landscape in particular time. I confronted the changes in the landscape structure with social processes, which are described in theoretical part of thesis according to background research. Result of my thesis is general story of particular landscape, whose structure changed fundamentally in consequence of collectivization of agriculture. Key words: landscape structure, collectivization, landscape metrics, GIS, cultural landscape, aerial photos, Široký Důl
Fotogrammetric analyses of aerial pictures of mountain landscape and generation of DEM
Hynštová, Marie ; Stuchlík, Evžen (advisor) ; Matějíček, Luboš (referee)
This thesis describes the stereo photogrammetric method used for digitalization of terrain elevation data of choosen area and the applications of digital elevation model (DEM). The main part of the thesis consists of DEM generation methodology, including stereo photogrammetric evaluation of aerial pictures, quality control of evaluating process, DEM creation and revision. DEM was created in software Edras Imagine 8.6. The thesis results in detailed description of DEM creation in the high mountain terrain selected in the High Tatra Mountains. Grid DEM of cell size 1x1 meter is attached. Key words: mountain lakes and catchments, photogrammetry, aerial pictures, DEM
What aerial photographs can reveal about the state of habitats in Šumava National Park?
Hamarčák, Mário ; Křenová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Kindlmann, Pavel (referee)
The utilization of remote sensing in the field of nature conservation and landscape management has recently increased tremendously. Possibility of implementing data obtained by remote sensing in GIS has created an increasingly powerful tool also for appropriate management of protected areas. This bachelor thesis delivers a brief overview of remote sensing methods, projects that use these applications and the possibility of their application in practice. Also examples of research activities in the field of remote sensing aimed primarily at protecting and monitoring the state of forests are presented. Finally, a draft methodology for the analysis of changes in habitat qualities in the area of interest, the Šumava National Park, is proposed. Assessment of the rate of vegetation succession at abandoned stone quarries using dendrochronology
Derková, Nikola ; Chuman, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šefrna, Luděk (referee)
Dendrochronology is a reliable method of determining the age of a stand. In this thesis, dendrochronology is used to assess rate of vegetation succession in abandoned granodiorite quarries. There were selected eight localities in the study area, each with several sites. At each site there were four - five optically oldest trees selected, from which cores were taken using increment borer. A total of 79 increment cores were analyzed. The obtained age of trees was compared with known age of abandonment and a sequence of aerial photographs, showing history of sites since abandonment. As the results show, tree vegetation is attached in the area after approx. 3 - 7 years from the end of disturbance. We observe continuous stand in the area after approx. 12 years from the end of disturbance.
Utilization of optical and laser data for modeling forest areas
Jebavá, Lucie ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Dušánek, Petr (referee)
The thesis deals with the possible use of optical data for modeling forest area compared with utilization of airborne laser scanning data. At first these two datasets are compared and causes of differences are explained. Then canopy height models are made and object-oriented classification is applied for separation of vegetation stands. Methodical procedure is suggested for delineation and detection individual trees in forest. Then their height is detected. There are summarized and other possibilities for improvement in detection and delineation of trees. The results show that optical data with resolution about 25 cm are suitable for dermining the characteristics of the forest stands up to individual tree level. The outputs of this research can be used for forest inventory. Key words: aerial imagery, image matching, laser scanning, point cloud, forest inventory
Changes in spatial extent of dwarf pine stands in the Krkonoše Mts.
Bernhäuserová, Veronika ; Treml, Václav (advisor) ; Romportl, Dušan (referee)
Since alpine and subalpine plant communities including shrubs are sensitive to climate change, they are suitable to study the recent climate change. Dwarf pine (Pinus mugo) is a shrub widespread above alpine timberlines in the Central and Eastern Europe. In this thesis, I studied changes in cover of dwarf pine in the Krkonoše Mts. To analyze spatial changes in the dwarf pine cover, I used a orthorectifications aerial photographs from two different periods 1958/1964 and 2012. I vectorized two areas from the lower limit of dwarf pine distribution and two areas from the upper limit of its distribution. The results did not support previously reported negative relationship between altitude and shrub expansion. Instead, faster expansion was found in the upper limit of the dwarf pine distribution. In addition, I found positive relationship between expansion of dwarf pine cover and initial length of shrub margins. Length of shrub margins seems to be more important for expansion of dwarf pine in the Krkonoše Mts. than altitude. Keywords: dwarf pine (Pinus mugo), expansion, alpine zone, aerial photographs, climate change
